OOH…Here’s One Thing
Fanfare For The Common Man
by Jim Johnsen,
Managing Director, Johnsen, Fretty & Company
After the week we have all shared, not sure you want this political nincompoop to wax eloquent (or rather butcher) the events of this last week or the state of affairs.
But I will say this. I am still damn proud to be an American. Democracy was tested to its limits…and guess what, it still works! (Or more appropriately as Churchill said “Indeed it is said that democracy is the worst form of Government except for all those other forms that have been tried from time to time…”). At the end of the day, this is still OUR country. We get to decide who is in and who is out.
Now that’s what I think our founding fathers were talking about. As Bubba said in the movie Forrest Gump: “That, that’s about it”. (don’t remember this scene?, It’s precious and worth the
42 seconds) Forrest Gump: “That, that’s about it”
I have to say, I struggled to match the music with the message this week. Originally, I was going to post, “Can’t Nobody Hold Me Down” by Puff Daddy, but then realized, it was even a little too edgy for me. And ya, I admit every once in a blue moon, hip hop does call to me, especially the classic stuff.
Then I thought, who more American than Aaron Copland. And what better choice than “Fanfare for the Common Man”. Enjoy. “Fanfare for the Common Man”
