OMG! ‘Gentleman’s Club’ Back on the Street in Boise
What are these guys thinking?
See our previous story here⇒. Shooting Yourself in the OOH Foot
The ‘Gentleman’s Club,’ the Torch Lounge, is back on the Streets in Boise. And just like Jack Nicholson in ‘The Shining’ it is creepy as hell to think someone would make that decision. Again! These actions affect us all as an Industry.
The billboard was taken down back in October after complaints, but has since reappeared on the side of a truck trailer. Yes, you know the kind. What is that famous line by Forrest Gump? This time, I guess the billboard company is hoping to some how dodge the law with a poorly constructed face on the side of a semi trailer. Hey, it works on the Interstate in the Dakota’s, why not in Boise? We’ll for starters Sherlock, the Dakota message is for Food and Gas.
The television station which broke the story, is so conservative, it would not even show the billboard on the 2 minute news segment.
The television station which broke the story, is so conservative, it would not even show the billboard on the 2 minute news segment. Does anyone not familiar with the community of Boise need to buy a vowel to figure that out?
I am never shocked by the number of people who own and operate billboards who believe they understand the business just because … own some and now, by ownership, convinced themselves they are expert.
I am never shocked by the number of people who own and operate billboards, who believe they understand the business just because they have driven by them their entire lives, own some and now, by ownership, convinced themselves they are expert. Reminds me of the Wizard of Oz imparting wisdom or a brain on the scarecrow. I can not say which is worse, this type of owner management or investors who are guilty of the same over exuberance of their knowledge of OOH. Lot of pretenders out there.
They may “know” billboards but what they don’t know is the industry and the basics of billboard 101. I believe that we are to serve the communities we operate in so that the communities we operate in will serve us. The creative on this billboard will only serve the opponents of billboards in their quest to discredit our industry.
One bad billboard can undo years of positivity and goodwill.
gentleman’s clubs have a right to advertise, but the creative has to fit the communities standards.
There it is Joe, concise and focused. Thank you for the valuable share!
