Pinball Wizard

“He ain’t got no distractions
Can’t hear those buzzers and bells
Don’t see lights a flashin’
Plays by sense of smell
Always gets a replay
Never seen him fall
That deaf dumb and blind kid
Sure plays a mean pin ball”

Pinball Wizard, from the Movie Tommy, by the Who with Elton John.
This is a real sleeper rendition of the song.

See and hear it⇒ Pinball Wizard

Not sure about you folks, but after last week I feel like turning off all the outside lights, jumping into a ratty pair of sweat pants and ankle burners, pulling a pint of B&J out of the freezer and binge-ing on “The Affair.”

So rather than lay down another serious article about the world’s state of affairs and/or discussing the outdoor world, I thought I would share a story that will hopefully take you away from all the frightening news and social media out there, if but for 10 minutes.  And in case you think it has nothing to do with outdoor…watch for the amplification and the attribution that digital media creates about halfway through.  Sh!#, with out of home, we could have done the same thing for the kid.  So if there is any take away, watch for creativity in the most unexpected places…and keep your eyes open for opportunities to do well by doing good.

Hoping you all stay safe and stay healthy this week.
Leaving you with a few quotes to remember that this too will pass:

“The only thing we have to fear is fear itself”
Franklin D. Roosevelt,  FDR’s First Inaugural Address

If you can keep your head when all about you
Are losing theirs and blaming it…”
 ‘IF’ Poem by Rudyard Kipling

“We have met the enemy and he is us”
Walt Kelly , Pogo the ‘possum’s quote in the poster Kelly designed to help promote environmental awareness.  We all need to our own small part, as consumers and voters. If we do, we can collectively have a significant impact on addressing the environmental problems that threaten our local communities, our country

“I always avoid prophesying beforehand, because it is a much better policy to prophesy after the event has already taken place.”
Winston Churchill

Its nice to see an old school hand-painted F&K rotary bulletin get some time in these days of vinyl print. Folks just dont know how much talent this piece of art takes anymore.
