OOH Agency Today —Stay Calm Industries
Stay Calm Industries is a small, flexible team of creative people that specialize in marketing and advertising. They work in branding, web design, graphic design, and creating marketing strategies. On a broader scale, they can do almost anything creative (like photo shoots, video production, or podcasts).
Evan Johnson started Stay Calm Industries August 1st, 2013. Over the intervening years, he’s worked with many clients, dozens of freelancers, had three different offices, and changed a lot about his business.
What started as an ad agency (because he was watching too much Mad Men,) turned into a web design agency, then a creative agency, and in its current and longest lasting form, a creative marketing agency. Evan enjoys working with his hands, so his office doubles as a shop to store his tools and materials (as well as a large supply of Nerf guns and beer). We got to ask Evan about his company. Here’s what he had to say:

Will Farmer: Please tell us about Stay Calm Industries.
Evan Johnson: We’ve been in business for just over 7 years now. The agency consists of myself, the owner and creative director, plus an accounts manager, and social media manager. We built teams of freelancers for each project to ensure the best team possible is working with each client. We specialize in branding, web design, and marketing strategy. OOH is increasingly becoming an important part of that strategy. We are based on the east coast, with a regional office in Wisconsin.
WF: What would you like brands and the OOH Industry to know about your shop?
EJ: We’re a small team, which means you’re working directly with the creatives, buyers, and decision makers to create and implement a strategy. We pride ourselves on high quality, creative work, interesting solutions to problems, and quick turnaround.
WF: Do you work with clients directly and/or through agencies? What is the percentage breakdown?
EJ: We primarily work directly with clients, although we’re always open to white label opportunities or partnering with specialized agencies to service one client.
WF: Any comments or suggestions for OOH reps in approaching or working with your company?
EJ: Let’s talk! We love marketing, and if you can bring something new and interesting that we haven’t seen before, we’ll get excited.
WF: What differentiates your business from others?
EJ: Our goal is simple: make cool stuff with good people, and earn a decent living.
WF: How do you obtain new business?
