Amex Runs QR Codes on Billboards to Boost Small Businesses

As part of its ongoing Shop Small initiative, American Express is rolling out a new campaign on DOOH units across major US markets that uses a QR code to drive traffic to nearby small businesses, including cafes, retail stores and barber shops. The creative is currently running in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago, San Francisco. The featured businesses can also be found on Amex’s Shop Small Map.
According to Amex’s Shop Small Summer Survey, 53% of small business owners say their summer sales need to hit pre-Covid levels in order for them to stay in business through next year.
