1. Walgreens’ $200 Million Fridge Door Fiasco
Under a 10-year contract, Cooler Screens installed 10,000 “smart doors” at Walgreens stores, but frequent malfunctions led to a legal dispute. In response—and unreported until now—Cooler Screens secretly cut data feeds to over 100 Walgreens stores in Chicago, leaving fridges glazed over with white pixels or blacked or altogether for a week in December 2023. Walgreens claimed this disruption hurt sales, leading to a temporary restraining order forcing Cooler Screens to restore the service.
2. Manhattan Billboard Worker Falls to His Death
A worker replacing a billboard at Victoria’s Secret flagship store in Midtown Manhattan fell to his death after an MTA bus hit a boom lift, police sources said.
