In Holland they’re turning Bus Stops into Bee Stops

In the Dutch city of Utrecht, bus shelters have been covered with plants to attract bees. Not only do they look great but they clean the air of fine dust particles and cool the city in the summer months.

316 bus stops now have a green roof which also stores rainwater.

The green roofs are mainly composed of sedum plants, which require little maintenance but will attract honeybees and bumblebees with their flowers.

The Municipality is also offers incentives for anyone who wants to plant the roof of their own home.
