Bench the AI
When it comes to a bus bench and a place for people to sit and rest, maybe we don’t need objectivity, maybe we need compassion. I’ve referenced the message from Mayor John Bauters previously, and I am going to use it again. ‘You don’t need to study whether or not people need to sit — especially people who are older, people have mobility issues, people with children, people who’ve walked along the way, or who are carrying things.”
You may not need a study, but you may just need an army of supporters to champion the project. So many of us travel around with our heads down, checking our phones, it’s easy to miss an elderly or disabled person struggling at the bus stop and ignore the problem. So many public works and transit departments are understaffed and overworked, with little time to take on one more project. AI isn’t going to help there either. Mayors and Council Members struggle to deal with homelessness, sustainability, climate, and traffic. So, something had to take a back seat. But there is a solution.
COA is committed to making the process easy, cost-free, and maintenance-free. We do all the heavy lifting and all the leg work. We provide one comprehensive report on the project for the municipality to review. The municipality controls the approvals while COA handles everything else. COA’s bus bench and recycling partnerships are a set-and-forget-it option. We’ve been handling ALL the details for 39 years. Our benches are designed to be aesthetically pleasing while preventing misuse and vagrancy. They provide an ADA-compliant resting place and fit where bus shelters may not.
COA provides 100% of the funding associated with purchasing, installing, and maintaining high-quality ADA-compliant public space benches. We also generate a sustainable revenue stream for our partners. To learn more about our program I invite you to call, text, or email me. Making people’s lives easier is good for everyone. Reach out today. Next time you see that elderly or disabled person at the bus stop, offer them a hand, or at least a smile. We need more of those too.
