Remaining Fairway Outdoor Markets
Reportedly Sold to One Buyer

The remaining Fairway Outdoor inventory is rumored to have been sold to a long time OOH Operator headquartered in the West. Our two sources are 99.9% certain of the agreement, but we’ll hang on a little longer until we receive our policy driven, ‘independent 3rd source verification.’  Nothing has been officially announced or confirmed.

It has to seem like an eternity for those employees in the markets who were not scooped up by Lamar in the initial purchase. Time for them to get their lives back. The new buyer does not have any overlapping footprint*, so most everyone should be safe.

We reported a week before the official announcement back in December 2018, Lamar Advertising Company acquired Fairway Outdoor Advertising’s billboard operations in five U.S. markets, with a total of approx 8500 faces, from GTCR, LLC for a purchase price of $418.5 million. The former Fairway markets, now Lamar, new operations, included Greenville/Spartanburg, South Carolina; Raleigh-Durham, North Carolina; Greensboro/Winston-Salem, North Carolina; Athens, Georgia; and La Crosse, Wisconsin.

Fairway had approximately 20,000 bulletins, posters and digital billboard faces across key metro areas in 15 states in the Southeast, Southwest and Midwest regions. The ‘New Western Owner’, should pick up over 11,000 faces.
