Throughout the rest of Women’s History Month, we at OOH Today will be exploring how each of the selections on our list of the Top 24 Women Who Drive Growth In Out-of-Home have made their mark on the industry. While OOH has long been seen as a male-dominated sphere, every one of these women is a symbol of how our industry can and must change—and each of them has an important story to tell.

Today the focus of our Spotlight is Claudia Damas, CEO and Partner at Altermark.

1) What advice would you give to other women moving up in OOH?

CD: Work hard, look people in the eye, and have a strong handshake. Also, if you love what you do and want to excel, be the best; start early, work late and always look for ways to evolve your business and create new opportunities of growth.

2) How can the industry take a bigger slice of total ad spend?

CD: I believe that this will happen naturally. Online has been riding a huge wave due to its many attractive features, but this online environment will evolve and perhaps redesign these online budgets. OOH will, as it always has, continue to have steady presence and growth.

3) What‘s your golden rule for the workplace?

CD: Have coffee and creamer in stock, and some sweets for after lunch?

4) When did you first know this was the industry for you?

CD: Not sure, but I have not left OOH and I love what I do. To have the power of creation and execution of OOH campaigns is awesome. It is up to us to make sure that people see what products or messages brands have and how agencies interpret this messaging, creatively. Location, location, location. Our job seems simple, but the proper selection of OOH is key to the success of a campaign.

5) What’s the key to your success?

CD: Working hard while doing something that I love, with people that are awesome.
