Ahead of the upcoming July 4th weekend, let’s travel to the birthplace of America, and check out the fourth largest DMA in the country, Philadelphia. To begin, let’s look at who is spending in OOH within the DMA for Q1 of 2021. See below for the top spenders for January through March of this year according to Kantar.
To start off, it’s interesting to note that Verizon and Barclays both hold the first and second spots on the list, positions that both companies held respectively for full year spending in 2020 (seen in the infographic below). In fact, eight of the top ten OOH spenders in Q1 were also included in the top ten for the full year of 2020! This consistency of spending in OOH likely indicates that these brands are seeing results with OOH, utilizing the medium to reach audiences in the City of Brotherly Love and across the DMA.
According to Geopath Insights, Geopath measures more than 19,000 unique frames from 52 operators within the DMA, generating more than 1.8 billion weekly impressions. With a population of over 8.3 million within the market, and 43% of all commuting trips within the DMA taking 30 minutes or more, it shouldn’t be surprising advertisers are continuing to take advantage of OOH, reaching audiences while they move about the market!
