Marquee Media’s state of the art Digital Billboards utilize the newest technology to reach mass audience with Marquee opportunities throughout California’s major Cities. They are invested in their clients success. They do not want to just sell media space to their clients, we strive to be a solutions oriented partner.
They want to understand their clients’ goals, objectives, strategy, and understand what success to their clients looks like. Their goal is to ensure that a client’s message is seen and will move customers to buy their product or service.
Jeff Juaquin is a co-founder of Marquee Media, and has been in the advertising business for over 30 years. We got the chance to ask him about his company, here’s what he had to say:
Will Farmer: Why are you in the OOH business?
Jeff Juaquin: I started in the business in San Francisco with Foster & Kleiser and thought I’d stay for 2 years to build my resume’ and discovered that I loved the people and variety of the job. I had the good fortune to work in some of the best Outdoor markets in the country and have exposure to some great mentors along the way, including Karl Eller. It was an adventure and never boring.
WF: What is keeping you in it?
JJ: I still love the people, the variety and opportunities that exist in the OOH business. There is still a lot of satisfaction in showing people how OOH can help them reach their goals and drive success for their businesses. Now more than ever, we have a chance and obligation to show why we belong in the people’s space, with OOH’s power of presence and new abilities to deliver timely messages to consumers…whether it be a product message, public service message, or important local & National news.
WF: What is the greatest success or satisfaction you receive from owning OOH?
JJ: The greatest satisfaction comes from having a seat at the adult table in the markets we operate in; whereby, we can form lasting partnerships with clients, agencies and property owners to successfully grow together. It’s very satisfying to have meaningful conversations with, clients, property owners, developers and politicians to show how Marquee can provide solutions and make a difference in the fabric of a City’s Landscape.
My first big success was partnering with Michael Wagener in 2014 to start Marquee Media and then building our first 2 digital displays in 2015 in Folsom. With that first success, we were able to DOUBLE our team size from two co-owners handling everything to a team of four by bringing on Christian Koszka and Josh Ficklin. They helped up our game in many ways. The game changing Event and Biggest Success, was Marquee pursuing the Sacramento Kings RFP for the right to build 11 digital displays and 6 traditional bulletins. Marquee Media, was the clear underdog in this process, but with a solid team effort we prevailed. This put Marquee on the map, with The NBA, Sacramento Kings as our biggest partner.
WF: How do you obtain new business?
JJ: We use Media Monitors/Kantar, LinkedIn and OAAA data and use a variety of social media, direct marketing sponsorships, networking and an active sales team. There’s no secret sauce…just hard work.
