For this weeks’ Friday Fast Fact, let’s take a look at the market home to Nebraska’s largest city – the Omaha DMA!
Did you know that the Reuben sandwich is said to have been first created in Omaha? Though largely associated with New York, it’s said that the sandwich was created during a high-stakes poker game at the Blackstone Hotel.
The Henry Doorly Zoo in Omaha is one of the top rated in the United States. But did you know that the zoo is home to the largest indoor desert and indoor rainforest in the world? These massive indoor environments contain acres of land, wildlife, and plants!

Here are some specifics about the OOH media in the Omaha market.
According to Geopath Insights, there are over 2,300 spots measured by Geopath within the Omaha market, which generate over 132 million impressions each week! Additionally, this market has a population of 1.2 million, with almost 1/4 of all commuting trips within the DMA taking 30 minutes or more.

There is a fairly varied mix of advertisers in the top OOH spenders list. Perennial national advertiser McDonald’s makes an appearance, as do chains likes Raising Canes and Hy-Vee. However, there is a fair mix of local and regional advertisers making use of OOH in this market. Among these, there are a handful of health facilities central to the Omaha area.
