JCDecaux Donates over $22+ Million for Restoration

JCDecaux, as one might expect, is donating to the rebuilding of the 850-year-old Notre Dame Cathedral which was devastated by fire earlier this week.

What is unexpected and to be applauded, is the amount, nearly $22, 600,000. That is a lot of dough. In addition to the direct financial contribution,  Decaux is also donating space and employee matching funds among other efforts to restore the iconic French site.

About Notre Dame Cathedral

Perhaps the most important factor that leads to the worldwide fame of the Cathedral is its French Gothic architecture. It is considered, an example of architecture perfection.

The cathedral is central to the French capital’s geographical and psychological heart, located on a small island called the Île de la Cité, which is surrounded on both sides by the Seine River.

It is considered the center of the city, and the country.  From Notre Dame, all other distances to the capital are measured. For Parisians, the cathedral a religious structure and a shared legacy.

13 million people a year visit the historic Notre Dame Cathedral, where Napoleon was made Emperor and Joan of Arc was beatified in 1909 by Pope Pius X.
