Soft Signs 3D Advertising, shared a recent production and install of an ‘inflatable’, they produced for the Florida Aquarium. An embellishment to a billboard makes the creative stand out much greater and makes the message more effective. OOH Today believes, the creative impact of an inflatable multiplies the larger than life effect of a billboard, more so than a standard embellishment. Previous years’ creative featured the first year, a Puffer Fish, then an Octopus and last year a Shark. This year a 35 foot long Eel pictured above, ‘swims’ the streets of Tampa.
We spoke with Eddy Carolan, at Soft Signs, about the process, asking questions we believe, anyone considering his 3D Advertising opportunities might have.
BB: How long does it take to turn the product around from your receipt of art to return to OOH company?
EC: The process starts with 2d Creative, production estimates are supplied in 24 hrs. The turn around time, once the concept is approved, the process takes 5-7 weeks.
BB: What are ball park costs of each of the 3 examples?
EC: All 3 billboards, 35 ft long octopus, 30 ft long shark and 35 ft long eel were around $15,000 including the vinyl.
BB: Approximate weight?
EC: All 3 examples, the octopus, shark and eel weighed around 140 lbs including the vinyl.
BB: Tell us about the ease of installation?
EC: Using the patented 3D vinyl process, the 3D element and the vinyl are one piece. The on site installation is accomplished by just posting/hanging the vinyl. That’s it! Installation is done by OOH company. Outfront Media conducted all the installations for Florida Aquarium,
BB: Is a blower used to keep them inflated?
EC: Yes. The inflation system is a constant running system. These are designed to last over a year of continuous use
BB: What are the Electrical needs?
EC: All that is required is a 110 volt outlet on the board
BB: Can they be illuminated internally?
EC: Some of the 3D props can be illuminated internally, round lights better than square!
BB: What other information might you share for our readers to further understand Soft Signs 3D products?
EC: Our patented 3D vinyl is 80-90% less than traditional 3 dimensional build outs. We have finally provided an affordable 3D prop solution for the OOH industry.

JPG, Soft Signs appears to have improved the inflatable product substantially. Though I have yet to see one in person or visit their manufacturing facilities it is ‘amazing’. thanks Jean-Paul.
