Burden and Blessings
Today’s holiday, Memorial Day, is a day for remembrance of those who have died in service to our country.
President George H.W. Bush’s State of the Union Address on January 29, 1991, in part ended with the following quote which has particular meaning to me in honoring Memorial Day.
Let future generations understand the burden and the blessings of freedom. Let them say, we stood where duty required us to stand.
The quote is inscribed on ‘The Quote Wall’ at the George H.W. Bush Presidential Library and Museum in College Station, Texas on the campus of Texas A&M University.
I hope it resonates with you. Please consider joining me and millions of others at 3 p.m. in pausing for a minute of silence.
May God bless the United States of America.
Enjoy your day. OOH Today will return on Tuesday.
