The 2021 full-year OOH spending report is now available in the geekOUT Library – for this week’s Fast Fact Friday, let’s take a look at some key highlights from the report!

While there are numerous national advertisers that appear throughout many of the top DMAs, it’s very interesting to note how hyper-local the advertisers/brands are in some markets. Local attorneys and banking institutions appear in nearly every market in the report, as do local restaurant favorites and auto dealers. When looking market-by-market, one thing is very clear: advertisers recognize the value that OOH has in reaching local audiences!

Looking at the report in full, a handful of advertisers can be found in a large portion of the markets. McDonald’s, the top OOH advertiser as a whole, appears in 69 of 95 DMAs in the report – that’s nearly 73% of the reported markets!

Geico appears in 43 of 95 DMAs, over 45% of the markets in the report. Allstate is a top OOH spender in 20 different markets as well.

As a category, law firms and attorneys held the largest share across the DMAs in the report. In fact, there were usually multiple attorneys or law firms that appeared within a market, showing a healthy sense of competition among the advertisers.

The full-year 2021 and Q1 2022 OOH spending reports are available now in the geekOUT Library for Geopath Members. If you’d like to learn more about membership, please reach out to us at geekOUT@geopath.org

  1. Jesse London says

Good intel. I have often asked both GeoPath and Apperatix for a monthly report that can show ad categories by month, every month. Report would not include markets, operators or advertisers, but just category data. Would be a great tool for sellers, while not compromising confidential information. If I reported to my sellers a national 20% surge in widgets last month – they would call on widgets asap.

  2. excellent points Jesse London. Thank yo for sharing with OOH Today’s 27,000+ network
