Mobile Billboards Crossing Borders: New Horizons for Outdoor Advertising in Europe
Mobile Billboards Crossing Borders: New Horizons for Outdoor Advertising in Europe
By Jonnathan Trilleras, CEO and Cofounder, LED Truck Media
After driving rapid growth in the U.S., mobile digital billboards are now gaining serious traction across Europe. They offer brands unprecedented flexibility and real-time, street-level engagement in some of the world’s most dynamic urban environments.
At LED Truck Media, we’ve spent years operating nationwide across the United States. In 2024, we began a strategic European market expansion, delivering mobile billboard advertising campaigns in key cities across France, Germany, the UK, Italy, Belgium, Spain, Poland and recently Croatia.
In May, we launched our first LED advertising truck in the Croatian outdoor advertising market. There’s no mobile billboard industry there—no LED trucks. We’re the first to open the market, and the response has shown just how much opportunity exists in regions that have largely been overlooked by mobile OOH media.

Why Europe? A Landscape Ripe for Innovation
The European DOOH market was valued at approximately USD 3.3 billion in 2024 and is projected to reach USD 8.2 billion by 2033. Europe’s urban infrastructure and its rapidly growing digital out-of-home (DOOH) market make it an ideal environment for high-impact, mobile advertising. Dense pedestrian areas, cultural events that draw international attention, and a longstanding tradition of public life taking place in outdoor spaces create optimal conditions for dynamic outdoor media and mobile OOH.
For U.S.-based brands, cross-border advertising offers a powerful opportunity to expand visibility across pan-European markets—while enjoying the same operational ease and customer service they rely on in the U.S.
This expansion enables brands to execute scalable OOH campaigns across multiple cities and countries simultaneously, maintaining consistent branding and maximizing exposure by tapping into high-traffic events and dynamic urban environments.

Adapting for the Market: From LED Trucks to Bikes
Europe is different from the U.S. The U.S. has larger roadways and fewer restrictions in many places, which makes it easier for large trucks to operate. European cities, by contrast, demand more agile solutions. That’s why we introduced LED bikes.
The infrastructure in Europe is older. There are certain routes and historic areas where LED advertising trucks simply can’t go. We adapted by offering LED bikes that bring brands even closer to their audience—particularly in the most active tourist zones.
These bikes are ideal for event-based advertising activation, pop-ups, and product sampling campaigns. They’re also eco-conscious, which aligns with Europe’s growing focus on sustainability.

Events, Festivals, and Foot Traffic: European OOH Opportunities
With international brands targeting Europe’s busiest and most high-profile moments, vehicle-based advertising campaigns are being deployed around major events like:
- Roland-Garros (French Open) in Paris
- Cannes Lions
- VivaTech (Paris), IFA Berlin
- UEFA Euro & Champions League matches
- Tomorrowland, Rock Werchter, Primavera Sound
- And of course, iconic city centers in Rome, London, Barcelona, Berlin, and beyond
These are high-visibility, high-density moments that offer an unmatched blend of physical presence and digital ROI.
A Turnkey U.S.–Europe Advertising Bridge
One of the most exciting aspects of this expansion is how simple we’ve made it for U.S.-based brands and agencies to go global. You can extend your campaigns into Europe while working with the same LED Truck Media team, maintaining a single point of contact and a unified creative strategy.
All campaigns—no matter how many countries they span—are managed from our U.S. headquarters. That includes centralized planning, localized execution, multilingual support, and reporting and analytics. We support a fully compliant international OOH strategy with a smart media localization strategy and built-in EU advertising compliance.
Scalable, Audience-Centric Media
Whether on wheels or pedals, LED Truck Media’s European market expansion is about more than geography. It’s a reflection of how brands are rethinking out-of-home—not just as signage, but as strategic presence.
As we gear up for Cannes Lions, we’re preparing a multi-format presence at the festival—marking our third year at the event and showcasing the future of mobile DOOH for the global advertising elite. Hope to see you there!
