  • Lime’s personalized year in review provides superlatives based on how people rode Lime in 2024
  • Lime shares superlatives for cities, including London as “top of class” with the most total rides and NYC as “most likely to host morning announcements” with the most rides of any city during the morning between 4AM-9AM
  • In tandem with the Ride Replay launch, Lime will also launch a new interactive roadmap toward its ambitious net zero goal, with progress, interim targets, and its path to decarbonization

San Francisco, CA— Lime, the world’s largest shared electric vehicle company, today unveiled its most intricate & largest ever Ride Replay campaign for 2024, showcasing how top riders around the world used Lime to get around. Returning for its third year, Ride Replay is Lime’s annual year-in-review celebration for riders to look back at their past 12 months of traveling with Lime. This year, Lime chose to celebrate each rider’s 2024 journey through a nostalgic, Y2K-style yearbook.

The campaign is designed and produced entirely by Lime’s in-house creative team. The theme aims to tap into the Y2K craze currently dominating the cultural zeitgeist through the familiarity of a high-school yearbook – capturing memories, milestones and stories from the “graduating class” of 2024. The campaign is available in 21 languages, making it the brand’s largest and most global campaign to date.

The campaign draws on 10 common yearbook superlatives, including “Top of Class” (most miles ridden), “Most Likely to Study Abroad” (most Lime markets ridden in), and “Most Likely to Pull An All Nighter” (most rides ridden at night) among others. Riders across the globe will receive an emailed yearbook personalized to them, based on how they rode in 2024, featuring superlative clubs they qualified for.

To bring this campaign from the digital world to the real world, Lime will hand deliver custom trophies to a handful of its top riders around the world. The trophies are crafted and designed by artist Briona Hendren from recycled and reclaimed Lime parts.

Additionally, on the evening of December 10th the London Lime team will host Ride Re:Play – a rider loyalty event in London, to preview the Ride Replay campaign with the city’s most engaged and loyal riders. The 30-minute evening group ride will be complete with nostalgia and Y2K inspiration: from disposable cameras, whistles, glow sticks and wheel lights. The end-of-year ride will bring together all things “brat green” for some feel-good fun in an effort to surprise and delight riders.

As part of Lime’s hallmark for marrying its global expertise with a hyper-local focus, the campaign also recognizes individual cities most emblematic of the superlatives, based on rider trends.

“We’re always excited for Ride Replay at the end of every year to allow our rider community to reflect and celebrate how they used Lime,” says Christian Navarro, Head of Brand Marketing at Lime. “In the spirit of superlatives, we’ve got a couple of our own firsts this year for our 2024 Ride Replay. For the first time ever, we’ll be expanding our Ride Replay storytelling to more countries across the globe, making it our largest campaign to date! We’re also bringing Ride Replay into the real world for the first time ever, with physical awards built from reclaimed Lime vehicle parts for some of our superlative riders. Finally, we’ll celebrate an incredible year with our riders via a major group ride in London DJ’d by Dom Whiting.”

“As with years past, we aim to invoke a feeling of nostalgia with our riders for Ride Replay, this year drawing on the resurgence of Y2K’s fun and colorful aesthetic,” says Evan Catlett, Creative Director at Lime. “Our riders should look back fondly at their individual contributions to decarbonizing transportation. With this creative, we relied on ‘delightfully tacky’ visuals that embody Y2K and student-designed yearbooks. I, myself, was on that design team in high school, so this was a fun one for me.”

Ride Replay: 2024 by the numbers

Lime riders took over 175 million rides in 2024, across more than 280 cities in nearly 30 countries on five continents, traveling over 234 million miles (377 million km).

The global impact of Lime’s riders in 2024 is undeniable. This year, riders around the globe:

  • Avoided 20K metric tons of Co2 emissions
  • Spared 2M gallons of gas (8.5M liters) from being consumed
  • Replaced over 43M car trips with two-wheeled, emissions-free rides

The surge in ridership this year also helped Lime surpass 750 million lifetime trips, becoming the first shared electric vehicle operator to reach this major milestone. By taking three quarters of a billion rides, Limes riders have replaced an estimated 176 million car trips, avoided an estimated 75,000 metric tons of carbon emissions and traveled more than 875 million miles, or nearly 1.4 billion kilometers.

To address climate change, and make cities healthier and more livable, Lime aims to revolutionize urban transportation toward a shared, electric, and carbon-free future. Electric shared micromobility can be among the most sustainable modes in the world, with the potential to replace all car trips under 5 miles. As part of this sustainability mission, Lime will be launching in tandem with Ride Replay a new interactive roadmap toward its ambitious net zero goal, with progress, interim targets, and its path to decarbonization.

As Lime reflects on 2024, the company is also gearing up for an exciting future in 2025. With plans for expansion, doubling down on social impact programs, continued innovation, expanding new vehicle pilots and a stronger commitment to providing the best possible riding experience, Lime is poised to make an even greater impact in the coming year.
