A new study from Intersection gives brands data-backed permission to snatch up the last few World Cup-adjacent OOH advertising opportunities in New York City. For marketers who may have been hesitant to put budget behind Out Of Home campaigns, the numbers make the case hard to ignore.
According to measurement firm StreetMetrics, 97.8% of bars and restaurants near Intersection’s DOOH network in New York saw foot traffic climb during a recent World Cup match — the typical venue up 156.6% versus a normal Friday, with volume-weighted lift holding at +108.5% throughout the game window and generating more than 32,000 incremental visits in a single night. Traffic peaked at +193% in the hour after the final whistle, as fans spilled out of bars and restaurants and straight past Intersection’s street-level screens.
With the tournament now in its final rounds, that kind of audience surge won’t come around again for years, and Intersection’s remaining World Cup adjacent inventory in NYC is going fast.
