New York Times Games is collaborating with OUTFRONT to make the commute a little more fun for the thousands who use the transit system each day (while also doing good as kids head back to school).

The new campaign invites subway commuters to test their word knowledge on gameboards displayed in subway trains and on various platforms. The boards invite viewers to download the game via QR code, play it, and then share their results. PLUS for everyone who shares their Genius or Queen Bee status by using #beetime and tagging @nytgames, New York Times Games will donate $1, up to a total of $50,000, to First Book, which distributes books and other educational resources to those who need them.

“As a New Yorker and a proud member of the #hivemind, the New York Times Games Spelling Bee is my daily ritual and one of the few productive ways I spend time on my phone. I’ll be hitting the subway to play with my fellow puzzle people while introducing more people to the joy of this game,” said Andy Cohen, television host and producer.
