NC Billboard Owners One Step Away
From New Rules
The North Carolina legislative bill which gives billboard owners the opportunity to move and upgrade their signs on state highways, passed in the NC House last week. The week prior you read here ⇒ The Billboard Bill— NC State Legislature on OOH where the NC Senate passed the House Bill 645.
‘NCHB 645’ would allow companies to relocate and keep their billboards when the government takes the underlying property through eminent domain or when the landowner decides it no longer wants the sign where it is. The bill prevents local governments from blocking the move, as long as the owners abide by zoning and other conditions spelled out in the bill.
Currently, it is being sent to the Governor today for sign off, making it law. Speculation of the Governor’s decision has covered by sides of the debate. We will know soon.
This will be strong victory for a reasonable outcome with the OOH Owners and the NC Outdoor Advertising Association and its new Executive Director, TJ Bugbee.
