This collaboration is designed to deliver multiple benefits to Sterling Heights residents, transit users, and local businesses. By expanding access to bus stop seating and amenities, the program will create a more comfortable and welcoming experience for commuters and travelers. The addition of recycling bins, if implemented, will further strengthen the City’s sustainability efforts and help maintain a cleaner community environment.
The agreement opens new visibility opportunities for local businesses. Through affordable, high-impact advertising placements on benches and shelters, small businesses in Sterling Heights can connect with residents and visitors.
“Sterling Heights is proud to be leading the way in testing innovative transit solutions that directly improve the rider experience while strengthening partnerships with our local business community,” said Sterling Heights Mayor Michael C. Taylor. “This pilot program has the potential to serve as a model for other communities in the region.”
With a population of more than 134,000 residents, Sterling Heights is Michigan’s fourth-largest city and a vibrant, growing community in the Metro Detroit region. The city is home to a diverse mix of residents and businesses, making it an ideal location for COA’s street furniture and advertising program.
