OOH …Here’s One Thing

Short and Sweet this week.
Nash-Kelvinator Corporation mean anything to you? How about Hudson Motor Car Company? Me either. But it turns out that these 2 companies merged in 1954 (largest merger in U.S. history at the time). At the merger they rebranded the combined Company American Motors Corporation or AMC. Also turns out that Mitt Romney’s Dad ran AMC from the mid 50s through early 60s.

But, headfake, that’s not the AMC I am referring to (although something tells both Mitt and his Dad George could wax eloquent on what I am about to tell you as well). I saw a great Instagram entry the other day (yes, I have given in too) by a gentleman by the name of Peter Thomas. He believes that AMC is the only thing you need to know when hiring someone.
Here is the short insta: https://www.instagram.com/p/CqBvdmgpBY8/
In short, here is his AMC:
Attitude…as in always bring a positive one,
Motivation…as in you will run through walls to be successful
Commitment…someone once asked me what the difference between dedication and commitment was. I stupidly knee jerked an answer. “It’s a difference by degrees” I said. The old sage looked at me and said, “way off son”. He said dedication is when you show up everyday. Commitment is when you wake up in the middle of the night drenched in sweat every night until the problem is fixed.
So in honor of AMC, I thought I would play a clip from Pulp Fiction. Pulp Fiction Johnsen? Check out the cars converted to tables in the scene. Secondly, listen to what Uma says to Travolta at the beginning of the scene.
Here’s the transcript in case you didn’t catch it: “I do believe Marsellus Wallace, my husband, your boss, told you to take ME out and do WHATEVER I WANTED. Now I wanna dance, I wanna win. I want that trophy, so dance good.” Now that’s AMC!
ps…here are a couple other car themed songs to bring a smile to your Monday:
