Daimler AG, the parent company of the Mercedes-Benz luxury auto brand, has awarded its global media planning and buying business to Omnicom Media Group after a competitive review, Daimler AG confirmed today.
A review that began in May, marks a significant hit to both Publicis, which had previously managed a majority of the business in Europe and the APAC region, and WPP, which also handled markets primarily in South Asia and the Middle East. Omnicom was the incumbent in the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

—Merger and Acquisition
We are hearing plenty of noise about a Fairway Outdoor impending sale and possible breakup.
Rumored suitors, Adams and Link jostling for markets with Adams receiving first option on hand picked markets. A Gleason—McLaughlin Showdown would be a fascinating negotiation.
If Adams keeps with historic safe acquisitions, look for markets where they can dominate or monopolize like markets current footprint. Picking off individual key locations in markets staying below Justice Department radar is a strategy as well.

Headquartered in Greenville SC, Fairway Outdoor Advertising is one of the country’s finest outdoor advertising companies. Close enough to Charlotte but the Interstate 85 units still need plenty of work, toss up?
The GSA services four metropolitan markets: Greenville/Spartanburg/Anderson, South Carolina, and Asheville, North Carolina, as well as the suburban Charlotte market of Gastonia. This should be a lock for Adam’s selection.

Adams loves colleges towns, Madison, Wisconsin; Champaign -Urbana, Illinois; Lansing and Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Piedmont Triad Division
With the anchor cities of Greensboro, High Point, and Winston Salem, the Piedmont Triad, population 1,668,887, is ranked a TOP 40 Metro Region in the US and 45th DMA by Arbitron. Many national and international corporations, twenty institutions of higher learning and major art, historical and scientific museums are located in the area. Fairway’s Raleigh Division services 25 North Carolina counties under the DMAs Raleigh-Durham, Greenville-New Bern-Washington and Wilmington with a total population of 3,300,200. Works with Adams footprint and college strategy.

Chattanooga, TN is the hub of a thriving region because it is located at the crossroads of the three states: Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Fits Link footprint in Atl and Ala. Link gets the nod here.

The North Central division is located in Rochester, MN, 80 miles south of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and 63 miles west of the Wisconsin border.
