Omnicom Wins Mercedes-Benz’s $950 Million Global Media Business. Check out link here-Omnicom Wins
Daimler AG, the parent company of the Mercedes-Benz luxury auto brand, has awarded its global media planning and buying business to Omnicom Media Group after a competitive review, Daimler AG confirmed today.
A review that began in May, marks a significant hit to both Publicis, which had previously managed a majority of the business in Europe and the APAC region, and WPP, which also handled markets primarily in South Asia and the Middle East. Omnicom was the incumbent in the U.S., Canada, South Africa, Australia and New Zealand.

—Merger and Acquisition
We are hearing plenty of noise about a Fairway Outdoor impending sale and possible breakup.
Rumored suitors, Adams and Link jostling for markets with Adams receiving first option on hand picked markets. A Gleason—McLaughlin Showdown would be a fascinating negotiation.
If Adams keeps with historic safe acquisitions, look for markets where they can dominate or monopolize like markets current footprint. Picking off individual key locations in markets staying below Justice Department radar is a strategy as well.
How might the markets divide?
You speculation may not be as good as ours but you are encouraged to contribute in comments.
Adams
Corporate Headquarters
Headquartered in Greenville SC, Fairway Outdoor Advertising is one of the country’s finest outdoor advertising companies. Close enough to Charlotte but the Interstate 85 units still need plenty of work, toss up?
GSA Division
The GSA services four metropolitan markets: Greenville/Spartanburg/Anderson, South Carolina, and Asheville, North Carolina, as well as the suburban Charlotte market of Gastonia. This should be a lock for Adam’s selection.
Athens Division
Fairway provides our advertisers with penetrating coverage of north Georgia.
Adams loves colleges towns, Madison, Wisconsin; Champaign -Urbana, Illinois; Lansing and Ann Arbor, Michigan.
Piedmont Triad Division
With the anchor cities of Greensboro, High Point, and Winston Salem, the Piedmont Triad, population 1,668,887, is ranked a TOP 40 Metro Region in the US and 45th DMA by Arbitron. Many national and international corporations, twenty institutions of higher learning and major art, historical and scientific museums are located in the area. With over 1,200 strategically positioned out-of-home media displays located on primary and secondary arteries, Fairway-Triad is a driving force in the outdoor advertising industry. Works with Adams footprint and college strategy.
Raleigh Division
Fairway’s Raleigh Division services 25 North Carolina counties under the DMAs Raleigh-Durham, Greenville-New Bern-Washington and Wilmington with a total population of 3,300,200. Works with Adams footprint and college strategy.
Link
The remaining markets fold into or work with Link’s Strategy’s.
Chattanooga Division
Chattanooga, TN is the hub of a thriving region because it is located at the crossroads of the three states: Alabama, Georgia and Tennessee. Fits Link footprint in Atl and Ala. Link gets the nod here.
Indiana Market
Fairway meets the promotional needs of businesses by delivering their messages to Indiana’s widely spread out audience. Our inventory is distributed throughout forty one counties reaching consumers inside and outside of the Indianapolis metropolitan area, covering key highways and thoroughfares in various nearby cities and towns. Link has over 1300 faces in nearby Illinois and previous loyal staff from the past ready to punch their tickets back with McLaughlin.
Mid-Atlantic Division
The Mid-Atlantic division is a dynamic, vibrant division including Kentucky, West Virginia and Ohio.
Link already in WV KY and OH.
North Central Division
The North Central division is located in Rochester, MN, 80 miles south of the Minneapolis-St. Paul area and 63 miles west of the Wisconsin border. Minnesota is a state with above average growth in economy, one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation and a job growth that is 33% faster than the rest of the US. Link has 590 faces in this area.
Southeast Division
The Southeast division is located in Valdosta, Georgia. Situated in this central location, Southeast offers coverage in the states of South Carolina, Georgia, Florida and Alabama. All markets provide great locations with high visibility on local roads and major highways and interstates. Old stomping grounds for McLaughlin and crew. Fits footprint
Southwest Division
The Southwest division of Fairway represents coverage in four states — from the heartland states of Arkansas and Oklahoma to the Sunbelt state of Texas to the southern state of Louisiana. Our coverage specializes in rural bulletin inventory targeting both small town America and the suburbs of major metropolitan cities. In addition, we offer mass coverage in the north Texas markets of Wichita Falls, Sherman/Denison and Texarkana. Already west, youngman. It works. And fits with current discussions with Cali OOH owners.
Wisconsin Division
Fairway spans throughout Wisconsin, displays are strategically located on high traffic Interstates, major highways and local surface streets in vibrant commerce communities including La Crosse. In addition to Wisconsin, Fairway is located in southeast Minnesota with coverage in Winona, Goodview and Houston County and Northeast Iowa with coverage in Decorah, Cresco and Oelwein. Fairway delivers your marketing message to hundreds of thousands of consumers every day. Old stomping grounds for McLaughlin and crew. Has inventory here already. Fits footprint
