12th Annual Los Angeles Billboard Art Exhibition

“Sightlines: Art in Public View”

Submissions Now Open:

The Billboard Creative (TBC) is now accepting submissions for our annual exhibition, transforming Los Angeles into an open-air gallery. This is your chance to have your work displayed on a billboard in LA for one month, reaching millions of people in one of the world’s most vibrant art cities.

TBC showcases emerging, underrepresented, and mid-career artists by placing mass-scale works on billboards throughout the city. Strategically located in high-traffic neighborhoods near galleries, museums, and art districts, each billboard amplifies the artist’s impact, turning public spaces into a citywide exhibition.

As one of the longest-running annual billboard art shows in the U.S., TBC has provided artists the unique opportunity to connect with curators, collectors, and everyday commuters alike—offering unparalleled exposure. Selected works will be displayed on billboards, and three artists will also receive cash grants.

What Sets Us Apart

Over the past 12 years, The Billboard Creative has grown into more than just an exhibition—it’s a movement, transforming Los Angeles into one of the most successful and longest-running billboard art shows in the country. By moving art beyond traditional galleries, TBC reshapes the city into an open, citywide gallery accessible to millions.

Our exhibitions have featured artists, including Edward Ruscha, Marilyn Minter, Paul McCarthy, and Laurie Simmons, and we’ve collaborated with institutions such as The Hammer Museum. TBC has also received press coverage from leading publications including The Los Angeles Times, Flaunt Magazine, Huffington Post, L’Oeil de la Photographie, and NPR/KCRW’s Art Talk and Creators Project.

This visibility has created tangible opportunities for emerging and mid-career artists many have sold their works, secured gallery representation, and had their pieces added to permanent museum collections.

TBC continues to amplify artists’ careers, meticulously archiving each exhibition to create a lasting historical record that benefits artists, curators, and the community at large.

At its core, TBC challenges the perception that art’s value is defined by a select few. Instead, we prove that accessibility and artistic success thrive together.

Selected Artists

Selected artists will be part of The Billboard Creative’s Los Angeles Billboard Expedition. TBC shows are styled like a traditional gallery show but the city becomes our walls. Billboards by participating artists have been passed by cars more than 83 million times. Strategically placed in high-traffic neighborhoods near galleries, museums, and art districts, each billboard is designed to amplify your impact.

What We Do

We envisioned TBC as a traditional gallery show without constraints. Our mission is to maximize exposure of artists to curators, collectors, galleries, museums and the community at large. Each year, our annual show is mounted on billboards across Los Angeles for a month. With the city as our gallery, each exhibit is in public view 24/7 and reaches hundreds of thousands of people.

TBC offers an alternative to the commercial landscape of city billboards by turning them into large-scale public art installations. Our exhibitions replace advertising at some of LA’s busiest intersections—including Sunset & Vine, Beverly & Laurel, and Hollywood & Western—transforming the urban environment into a citywide gallery.

Past exhibitions have featured artists such as Ed Ruscha, Lawrence Weiner, Marilyn Minter, and Paul McCarthy alongside emerging talents from across the globe. TBC’s shows are widely promoted, with participating artists receiving extensive media coverage in *Huffington Post, HAF, Vice,* and *Site Specific*.

…turning everyday spaces into public galleries and promoting unrestricted access to art as a fundamental right not a privilege.

How it Works

Each year, our annual show is mounted on billboards across Los Angeles for one month. With the city as our gallery, each exhibition is in public view 24/7 and reaches hundreds of thousands of people.

·                  Selected artists receive their own billboard in Los Angeles. TBC covers all expenses related to the production, mounting, and leasing of the billboard.

·                  A smartphone map guides viewers through the show, providing directions to billboard locations along with artist bios and links to each artist’s personal website.

·                  Billboards are placed in high-traffic, art-centric neighborhoods, including areas near galleries, museums, and art districts.

·                  We aggressively promote our shows, and participating artists have received widespread media coverage in outlets such as NPRHyperallergicVice, and Site Specific, among others.

·                  The Billboard Creative is a leading platform for billboard art. Our shows have featured renowned artists—including Ed Ruscha, Lawrence Weiner, Marilyn Minter, and Paul McCarthy—to help draw greater attention to the work of emerging and underrepresented artists.

·                  All TBC show billboards are professionally documented. High-quality images are made available to the media and to participating artists for use on social media, websites, and other communications.

·                  Artists retain full rights to their work, and any sales or gallery inquiries are directed straight to the artist or their representatives.
