For this week’s spotlight, let’s take a look at the “Horse Capital of the World” – the Lexington DMA!
As mentioned, Lexington, KY is considered the “Horse Capital of the World”, and for good reason! It is home to several renowned racetracks and associations, including Keenland, which is highly regarded for its thoroughbred champion horses. In fact, 23 past Kentucky Derby winners have been bred at Keenland!
Many important inventions came about because of Lexington and its residents as well. Stuck in traffic? You can blame (or thank!) inventor Garrett Morgan, who created the three-position traffic light we all know today. Morgan also created the “safety hood” breathing device, which was the prototype and precursor for the modern gas mask that is used around the world!
According to Geopath Insights, there are more than 1,900 spots measured by Geopath within the Lexington market, which generate over 111 million impressions each week! Additionally, this market has a population of 1.3 million, with almost 1/3 of all commuting trips within the DMA taking 30 minutes or more.

There are several legal services that appear in the top 10 spenders for OOH in this market. In addition to that, there are multiple health/wellness advertisers who have been utilizing OOH’s impact in this market. Large national advertisers like McDonald’s and Allstate also appear as top OOH spenders in the market.
