You may think that I picked this piece because a few of my fellow Dinosaurs (sorry the club is closed until further notice) and I spent an hour or two on the second floor of a spectacular house on Easy Street in Nantucket this past weekend drinking 30 year old and reminiscing about the good old times in the biz. Good guess…but you would be wrong.
Earlier in the week I had the good fortune to attend another star ‘studded DPAA Global Annual Summit. I must say Barry, you know how to put on a good show! Here is one for you:

But I digress. The reason I chose Easy Street for the cover song was because I swear after talking with several handfuls of outdoor and place-based operators at the DPAA, I said to myself, shit, we must really, and I mean REALLY be on Easy Street.
Not one, not five, not ten…keep going…many, many experienced operators said to me “hey the moment that stick or display or kiosk or thing goes in the ground (or on the wall), it starts spitting out programmatic nickels, no sweat or razzle dazzle required.
Sounds like the pitch I got from a bitcoin miner not too long ago. Perplexed? So the hell am I. Could this really be true? And more importantly is it a fad or is it sustainable?
‘Doctor doctor, Mr. MD, please tell me what’s ailing me’. Kidding aside, am I the only one not sipping the Kool-Aid just yet? Hit me back with a flame mail. Would love to know your opinion. Now back to Shakedown Street for me.
