Walmart Plans to Increase Advertising 10 Fold —Mark Boidman Checks in on its Effect with OOH

Walmart Plans to Increase Advertising
10 times in the Next 5 Years
According to recent story released by Reuters, Walmart plans to make a big push to challenge Amazon on Advertising. Recently, Walmart took its ad business in-house as Walmart Media Group and is now, changing its name to Walmart Connect. Catchy huh?
As part of that plan, Walmart will sell ads on its over 170,000 screens inside more than 4,500 U.S. stores, including on TVs and screens of self-checkout kiosks
Mark Boidman, of PJ Solomon, (Partner and managing director and head of media and tech services – responsible for digital media, marketing services, mobile, out-of-home media, in store media and tech and retail technology) said “Walmart’s plans to grant ad buyers more marketing options in-store would be an advantage.”
“The ability to use on-premise media, and in particular digital signage and digital out-of-home media, allows brands and retailers to be reactive and provide contextually relevant content and advertising,” said Boidman. “Think coffee promotions in the morning or marketing hot chocolate or snow shovels ahead of a big snow storm.”
