SOOFA Becomes First Smart City Communication Platform to Bring Facebook to the Right-of-Way
Solar-powered digital kiosk expands its growing list of features that allow cities and municipalities to engage community members with hyperlocal content.

CAMBRIDGE, MA, — Soofa, the provider of innovative solar-powered street-level furniture used for outdoor advertising and smart city communication, has released a new feature allowing city landowners to display timely Facebook updates to passersby.

interactions with our Soofa Signs …and … Facebook integration

The new feature joins a collection of other widgets on the Soofa Sign platform that allow communication of vital community information, such as transit updates, weather forecasts, upcoming local events, Twitter feeds, and more.

“Soofa continues to lead the OOH industry and win the confidence of our municipal partners,” said Lindsay Gardner, Chief Executive Officer at Soofa. “We offer the only 100% zero carbon digital kiosks and now are the only platform to integrate Facebook. Seventy-one percent of Americans regularly use Facebook, so to have each city’s posts seamlessly appear on their Soofa Signs make for more consistent and familiar messaging.”

As many cities and municipalities use Facebook to communicate with constituents in their community, the ability to share current Facebook updates at eye-level to passersby in the right-of-way adds another level of connectivity with community members. It also reinforces the power of hyperlocal content that attracts people to the signs’ 42” electronic ink displays, making Soofa’s street level furniture an attractive opportunity for advertisers, as well.

“The addition of Facebook adds to the list of features available on Soofa Signs that no other OOH platform can offer,” says Jacques de Kock, Soofa’s Director of Engineering. “We’re especially excited because this added widget will be easy for landowners to use to communicate hyperlocal content and control all of their posts in one place.”

“The start of 2023 is bringing about a change in the information that we share across our social media platforms, and we are working hard to produce relevant and informative content that is fun, whimsical, and engaging,” says Christophe St. Luce, Assistant City Administrator in the city of Bradenton, FL. “We are eager to have as many pedestrian interactions with our Soofa Signs as possible and believe that the Facebook integration will be key to accomplishing that.”

Soofa’s eight-foot tall solar-powered digital kiosks offer multiple ways for cities and brands alike to reach their audience on hundreds of Soofa signs across 17 DMAs, with plans to expand into at least five new states in 2023. Its digital screens showcase e-ink technology, creating high contrast and visibility any time of day. The addition of Facebook functionality is another exciting update to make Soofa’s platform even more user-friendly for city leaders to engage the community members that they serve.

Soofa is the ultimate outdoor advertising and smart city communication platform. We market our innovative solar-powered digital kiosks to cities and advertisers. They’re MIT- and women-founded, committed to diverse voices in the tech world and an inclusive work environment, pursuing a mission to make every city smart, social, and sustainable.
