1. Minnesota Lawmaker Wants to Ban New Billboards
Sen. John Marty, DFL-Roseville has authored a bill that would impose a statewide moratorium on new billboards, claiming the signs detract from the state’s natural scenic beauty and pose a safety concern for motorists. Representatives of billboard companies testified against the bill, saying it would hurt local companies and curtail First Amendment rights. The committee didn’t take action on Marty’s bill, but laid it over for future consideration.
2. OAAA Taps Former IAB President Dolan as COO
OAAA has appointed Patrick Dolan to the new role of chief operating officer. Dolan will lead OAAA’s operations and finances and report to OAAA’s president and CEO, Anna Bager.
