Mediocrity is Contagious
You know how the old saying goes…”if you don’t have anything good to say…let someone else say it.” Well not really. But it is true that I am struggling to come up with some original content this weekend. Maybe its ’cause we have hit the dog days of summer which seems to call for a porch swing, a glass of lemonade and a long nap.
In any event, a friend did turn me on to an interesting chap by the name of David Goggins this week. David is a retired Navy SEAL (and Air Force!), an ultra marathoner, ultra-distance cyclist, triathlete, motivational speaker and also held the world record for the most pull-ups in a 24 hour period (4,000 plus). To say that David is intense would not do him justice. Some form of higher being might be a better description.

Beside his recent book, Can’t Hurt Me, it appears as if now he has become quite an ‘influencer’, with gigantic followings on Instagram (1.7M followers…note Outfront has 7k) and YouTube (one video had over 4M views). Given his ‘messaging’, it’s not hard to understand why.
He has a whole bunch of YouTube’s that are great listens. I’ve only gotten through a few and below is my favorite. Note, NOTE, NOTE, David curses like a sailor. Oh, that’s right he was a sailor. But honestly, I think his message would be just as strong without the expletives. It’s a bit unfortunate. But given who he is, my guess is, he is working on that too. In any event, listen or don’t, at your own risk. If you don’t have a full 10 minutes to watch (I usually watch YouTube at 1.5x speed), I would recommend the 2 minutes between halfway and three quarters, when he talks about the pearly gates. Enjoy.
