Move Furthers Company’s Focus on Quality With a Mission to “Expect Better” 

SOUTH PASADENA, CALIFORNIA, — Mahlmann Media, Inc. (MMI), a leading independent outdoor advertising media owner and operator based in the Los Angeles area, announced today that it has rebranded as Skies Above Media.

The rebrand underscores the company’s commitment to delivering exceptional processes and results. Across all facets of business, Skies Above Media embraces the mandate to “Expect Better,” acting as a better media partner to agencies and clients, a better incubator for team members to thrive, and a better collaborator with business partners.

The rebrand comes after industry veteran Glyn Williams purchased the 32-year-old company in April. MMI has rapidly expanded since Williams joined the company as chief revenue officer in 2019, increasing from 50 out-of-home (OOH) assets in four markets to now owning, operating, and representing more than 135 assets across 10 markets.

“I’m excited to bring a renewed energy and sense of purpose to such a storied and respected company,” Williams said. “The name ‘Skies Above Media’ is inspired by the sense of optimism and possibility we feel when we remove the limits, we place on ourselves. When we break down those ceilings, we can look up and see blue skies above us every day here in Southern California. Those skies make us feel as though we can accomplish anything. I know our team can; we’ve already achieved a lot in only a couple years, and we’re just getting warmed up.”

Williams joined MMI following almost two decades on the advertising agency side, where he focused on OOH advertising. His experience includes stints at OOH industry leaders such as Starcom (Publicis) and Kinetic (WPP). He also served as West Region VP at Rapport (IPG) before moving to the media operator side of the business.

Richard Mahlmann founded MMI in 1989 with a single billboard in Fresno, California, and the company grew to become one of California’s largest independent media operators. Richard’s wife, Susan, later succeeded him as CEO and became the company’s owner when Richard passed away in 2019.

The seasoned leadership team at Skies Above Media includes COO Michael Cook, a minority owner who has been with the company for over 15 years.
