Made You Look. And That’s the Point

Made You Look. And That’s the Point

The Moving & Dynamic Media Alliance (MDMA) rolled through Penn Plaza, day after day, right where Advertising Week attendees line the sidewalks. Eight vehicles moved through the district as one powerful, coordinated fleet, showing what happens when the full force of moving media is dominating the street. Every vehicle carried the same bold message, impossible to miss and impossible to ignore: “Made you look. And that’s the point.”
Together, the convoy showed the range of our category at work: classic and LED mobile billboards and static and digital taxi tops (do it outdoors, Mobile Media Truck, Pivot OOH, Lime Media and Firefly), along with a wrapped bus and car (Accord Transit and Good Traffic). Weaving through the foot traffic, a Coco Robotics delivery robot, an unexpected format, carried the same creative right up to attendees. Experiencing the campaign from the ground makes the advantage clear: with true proximity targeting, custom routes and timing put the message in front of marketers and agency leaders in the right place at the right time, and curbside appeal does the rest. Every placement carried a QR code that unlocks OAAA’s new Strategic Guide to Moving & Dynamic OOH Media and a chance to win $500, turning attention into action in seconds.
Standing on 33rd Street, right outside the Advertising Week entrance, I watched it unfold in real life and real time, and the impact was immediate. Heads turn, eyes lift from phones, and people stop mid-stride to scan the code as the fleet rolls by. For a crowd that creates advertising for a living, that’s about as honest a test as you can get, and it was a firsthand reminder of how impactful this medium is.
That’s exactly why we’re here. Moving media is one of the most powerful amplifiers in any media plan, and the best way to prove it to the people who build those plans is to put it right in front of them. Bringing MDMA members together on one street makes that case louder than any single fleet could, and the teamwork behind it has been as strong as the response. “When you know something works this well, you want to share it,” said MDMA Co-Chair and OAAA Board member, Regis Maher. “Elevating each other elevates this whole piece of our industry.”
For marketers both inside and outside of out-of-home media, the guide backs up what we’re seeing on the street. In a benchmark of more than 1,800 campaigns, including 505 that used moving media, moving and dynamic OOH drove a 19.58% lift in message recall versus 5.12% for OOH overall, along with stronger lifts in brand awareness (8.91% vs. 8.12%) and web visitation (23.28% vs. 20.08%). Add GPS tracking, sensor-based impression data, geofencing and mobile retargeting, and moving media becomes a true enhancer for any plan, delivering digital-style accountability with real-world impact.
