OOH Owner Today—Lind Media

by Benny Taubman, OOH TODAY Journalist

Lind Media was founded in 1991 by John L. Siegenthaler and operates over 1,500 billboards in 27 counties all over Ohio and Indiana. The company’s team brands itself on placing clients and communities first and going the extra mile to provide exemplary individual and community service. Lind strategically places their displays in several key Midwest DMAs and targets medium and small-scale markets. Their clientele is diverse and ranges from international firms and advertisers to small, locally-owned businesses and community service organizations.

Their team of dedicated professionals effectively operates in all key areas of the OOH markets, including account services, operations, creative, and administration. This broad stroke of service works together to coherently provide Lind’s clients with an exceptional experience. Lind goes the extra mile for clients and makes sure that all of its billboards blend in with the aesthetics and environmental features of the surrounding area.

Finally, it would be remiss to not go further in-depth about Lind’s public service. Lind reports that the business donates over $100,000 in public service advertising in Northern Ohio. Additionally, Lind provides a 20% discount rate to eligible non-profit community service, educational, political, and religious organizations with no restrictions on location selection, posting, or rotation. Lind is truly a business that gives back to its community.

John L. Siegenthaler

In an exclusive interview with OOH Today, Lind Media president John L. Siegenthaler shared some insight about his company.

Q: Why are you in the OOH business?

A: I love Outdoor. Unofficially, like most Outdoor Companies,  we are a creative house, real estate company, developer, construction company, philanthropist, civic booster, business consultant, manufacturer, and much, much more.

Q: What is your key to success in the OOH business?

Maura Siegenthaler

A: Easy question, my wife and CEO, Maura Siegenthaler, and the entire staff at Lind Media. As individuals, I really like the team that we’ve assembled at the Lind Companies. They are true professionals, our friends and folks who take pride in what they do.

Q: What is the greatest success or satisfaction you receive from owning OOH?

A: Helping our business and community partners prosper, especially as traditional media options have continued to disappear.

Q: What are some future goals for your business?

A: Continued logical growth via organic expansion and acquisition as opportunities present themselves. We’re usually positioned to make acquisitions, large or small, quickly and on very short notice. As interest rates rise and leverage becomes an issue for some operators, I expect opportunities to present themselves.

Q: Share a fun fact about your company!

A: Lind Media is the inventor of the Lind SignSpring system. When vinyl and pe posters came on the market to replace glue and paper, we were unable to find an alternative installation system to those that were commonplace. Our inspiration came when a trampoline was spotted laying vertically on its side in a Sam’s Club store. From there, we spent two years creating SignSpring which has changed much of the industry, including our company, providing an operational and revenue advantage that is difficult for competitors to match.
