Getting OOH This Summer

Fun in the Sun

Marketing Coordinator at  Geopath

As the vaccination rollout has given confidence to much of the population to engage in familiar activities again. We are seeing mobility within the population that is at or above pre-COVID levels across many markets as people get out of home more often.

In fact, data from Geopath’s most recent mobility report shows that average miles traveled daily has been tracking at or above 2019 measures since April.

This is great news for our industry as people all around the country get OOH and back to some of their normal “summer fun” activities. Moreover, a recent study sourced by eMarketer indicates that half of all US Adults are at least “somewhat likely” to take a summer vacation this year.

While about one-third of US travelers plan to go to the beach, it is clear that many are planning to get outdoors whether is it to visit a national or state park, a theme park, or just the “great outdoors.” (Source: eMarketer – Deloitte Summer Travel Survey, 2021)

Additionally, according to Geopath Insights, the OOH inventory Geopath measures generates 22 billion weekly impressions among those that plan to take a beach or lake vacation in the next 12 months, and 42 billion weekly impressions among those grilling outdoors in the past 12 months.

So, whether it is just a backyard barbeque, hitting the beach for the weekend or taking that long-awaited summer vacation, OOH will always present a great opportunity to reach people as they travel about their day, no matter the occasion!
