Established by Danny Hoots 36 years ago, Camel City Posters began as a humble venture with no equipment, no building, no staff, and no customers. Through the vision and dedication of Danny Hoots and his committed team, the venture has evolved significantly over the years. Camel City Posters has transformed into a thriving multi-million-dollar company renowned for its commitment to quality and innovation.

Danny started his career in outdoor advertising in 1972 as an artist at Associated Posters. He worked at Associated until 1977, when he was offered a job with Naegele Outdoor as a Creative Director. Danny worked for Naegele until 1982, when he was approached by Compton & Sons in St. Louis to start a print shop in Winston-Salem to support Compton’s National Co-op programs for OOH.

Danny attempted to purchase the print division of Compton in 1987, and when that failed, he started Camel City Posters in 1988. The co-op education continues to be a core part of their business model today. The company now offers clients weekly leads to drive Out-of-Home (OOH) sales, a testament to their commitment to client’s success.

Vinny Pannutti, now in his 20th year with Camel City, stumbled into OOH while employed in the sports world. In 2004, Vinny worked for the Winston-Salem Warthogs, a minor-league baseball team in North Carolina. He was responsible for selling and installing around 96 billboard ads on the outfield wall. The ads were painted on plywood back then.

When it came time to have the ads painted, he pulled out his Rolodex, found the phone number of his two painters, and reached out. Unfortunately, both gentlemen had a little too much fun the past few nights and were locked up from too many DUIs. When he asked their wives when they may be out and able to paint, there was no clear answer.

At that point, Vinny had to find a way to get 80+ ads up in 2 weeks. Long story short, he found Camel City Posters in the Yellow Pages, reached out, and they helped solve Vinny’s painter problems.

Vinny has now been the General Manager of Camel City for 12 years. The company has gone through many changes and growth throughout his tenure. “I just love the people that I work with, both at the office and in our industry.” “The outdoor industry is like a big family with all sorts of personalities, but all of us are working toward the same goal.” Success is something that Vinny and his team crave for all of Camel City’s clients. They are always adding value and finding ways to help their clients further.

In addition to our expertise in Print and Design, Camel City recently expanded its offerings by acquiring Irvin Hardware earlier this year. When discussing the decision to bring a hardware company into the fold, Vinny explained, “This acquisition was a natural fit for us. We are continually seeking ways to grow and better serve our clients. By incorporating Irvin, we can offer our clients reliable, high-quality hardware products that they can trust. Moreover, this expansion opens new avenues for creativity and innovation. Our focus on innovation enables our clients to allocate more resources toward their growth. We are always eager to engage with our clients, asking how we can enhance their experiences and improve our services. This is our passion—finding solutions to the challenges faced in our industry.
