OOH Teaser Sending Fans/Concerts Viral

Black Crowes’ billboards with logos only, have been turning up in NYC, New Jersey, Birmingham, Fayetteville, Nashville, Detroit, Pittsburgh, Kansas City, Milwaukee and Raleigh.

OOH teaser campaigns introducing concerts seems to be the new trend. The objective?
Fan engagement and generating buzz via social media. Social media and OOH. A few strategically placed OOH displays with just the right creative curious appeal, initiates engagement and sharing, sending fans viral. The effect is reaching a massive audience.  Thanks to Outdoor Advertising, the cost and effectiveness is proving a successful strategy for concert promoters, such as Live Nation and AEG.

Are the Black Crowes getting back together?  Signs, billboards, literally suggest, yes.

A cartoon logo depicting two crow heads with “X”s over their eyes, and a cigarette dangling out of one bird’s beak, is appearing throughout the country. The logo is the only image at theblackcrowes.com site.

The Wall Street Journal reported last month “that industry insiders were hearing of a reunion tour to coincide with the 30th anniversary of the group’s debut album. Since the band’s logo is appearing on billboards, that suggests they’ll be playing and a tour announcement imminent.”

Others bands following similar strategy are the Rolling Stones, (as seen in OOH Today The Rolling Stones No Filter Tour Tongue Lashes Toronto) Paul McCartney and Celine Dion.
