Before You Come for My Piano

OOH …Here’s One Thing

Not too much to report this week.  I am still recovering from the Pennsylvania State Association meeting.  Those gals and guys really know how to Rock the Casbah!

Speaking of which, didn’t realize that very dance-able song from 1982, which I thought was about Sheri, was really a pretty revolutionary slap at the Iranian government who banned all western music in 1979.  Who knew?  Click the links below.

On sadder news this week, I heard that Bill Corley passed away a little while back.  When John Kluge dies, we all hear about it instantaneously.  Bill Corley, not so much.  I understand from meeting the man a few times and third party accounts that he would travel anywhere east of the Mississippi to build a sign, but mostly up and down the east coast.  I hear he was pretty handy in a pinch on location when things didn’t fit together just right.  So in honor of Bill, I thought I would steal half a stanza from Jackson Browne:

“Now roll them cases out and lift them amps
Haul them trusses down and get ’em up them ramps
‘Cause when it comes to moving me
You know guys are the champs
But when that last guitar’s been packed away
You know that I still want to play
So just make sure you got it all set to go
Before you come for my piano”

Carpe Diem everybody.   Have a good week.
