Friday Fast Fact – Washington DC Market Infographic

by Brian SchopperMarketing Manager, Geopath

For today’s Fast Fact, we’re going to take a look at the Washington DC market – home to the US Capital and some very odd bits of history!

It’s a somewhat well-known fact that the White House in DC today is not the original White House, which was burned down by British troops during the War of 1812. But did you know that the White House wasn’t always called the “White House”? During its history, it has been officially called the “President’s Palace,” the “President’s House,” and the “Executive Mansion.”

The White House is also allegedly haunted, for those of us who enjoy the paranormal! Numerous residents/visitors, including Winston Churchill, have reported seeing the specter of Abraham Lincoln wandering the halls. There was also an unspecified “Thing” that was known to scare the staff of President Taft.

Let’s take a look at the newest geekOUT market infographic for the Washington DC DMA.Based on the statistics in the above infographic, there is a large presence of family households in this market! Here, 2/3 of households have children, and 1/3 of households have at least 1 person under the age of 18 years.

When looking at the top OOH Spenders within the market, you’ll note the strong tech/software presence within the market. Not surprisingly, local government is making use of OOH within the DMA. In addition, several banking/financial categories are represented among the top OOH spenders here.

These new infographics can be found in the geekOUT Library, and are available to all Geopath members. Don’t see a market you are looking for? Reach out to us at geekOUT@geopath.org. Additional Market Spotlights will be added over the coming weeks.
