The 2024 Paris OOH-lympics

How different OOH companies are commemorating the event

The Olympics began on July 26 and will continue until August 11. This year is a different year for the Olympics, for one thing, the last summer Olympics was during a global pandemic. For another thing, this is the first year in history that there are an equal number of male and female participants in the games (further making this the year of women’s sports).

What is the OOH industry doing to commemorate the Olympics? With over 12 million tourists in town to watch the games, there’s ample opportunity for OOH advertising, from bus wraps promoting women’s sports teams, to billboards across athlete’s hometowns cheering them on in the games.

OUTFRONT shared a blog and video on their LinkedIn, highlighting Team USA. They have been very active in sharing what they are doing to celebrate the Olympics.

Lamar Medal Count

Lamar is getting into the spirit of the games by displaying medal counts on digital billboards across the country. Throughout the two-plus weeks of competition, Lamar will display the total number of gold, silver, and bronze medals won by U.S. teams and the total medals won by the country, with counts updated in real-time. In most cases, digital billboards will feature the logos of local business sponsors.

LinkNYC displaying Team USA medal counts

Intersection first launched Olympic Medal Counts in 2022 as part of its larger suite of always-on sports scoring on LinkNYC and in other top cities across the country. They are doing the same this year, running Olympic medal counts for Team USA on LinkNYC.

What are you doing to commemorate the Olympics? Let us know!
