Only Kennedy Campaign launches, OOHMAA reports best H1 ever, and the advertising climate in Pennsylvania. A weekly recap of the top OOH stories you may have missed and colorful commentary from BB for the week ending ,August 3, 2024.

1. ‘Only Kennedy’ OOH Campaign Launches

A Pro-Kennedy super PAC, American Values 2024, launched a campaign “Only Kennedy Can Beat Trump” on bus shelters, mobile billboards, and prime midtown NYC billboards.

These weeklong campaigns rolled out across NYC and DC. Pro-Kennedy super PAC Launches “Only Kennedy Can Beat Trump” Ad Campaign. The super PAC targeted news stations to raise awareness of the campaign claiming that only RFK Jr. can beat former President Trump.

B.B.’s Take: Short term campaign smartly targeted areas where it could gain more earned media on a national scale by “making news.” But did it really have any effect on voters?

2. Out-of-Home Advertising: A Bright First Half of 2024

The Out of Home Media Association Aotearoa (OOHMAA) has announced a that total revenue has climbed 10% YOY to $86.8 million, making it the strongest H1 performance on record.

DOOH remained the primary growth driver for OOH, representing 77% of total OOH revenue.

  • pDOOH continues to expand, increasing by 26% to make up 10% of total DOOH revenue.

B.B.’s Take: New Zealand OOH is performing very well. I doubt these kinds of numbers are being seen in the US. The US has much more traditional than digital inventory. Perhaps the US side should take a closer look at how OOHMAA is finding success.

3. OOH in Pennsylvania and the Wilkes Barre

Pennsylvania, home to the Wilkes Barre DMA has nearly 64,000 pieces of inventory audited by Geopath. There are 72 media owners and a total population of about 13 million.

Geopath members can access infographics on a variety of markets through Geopath’s geekOUT Library!

B.B.’s Take: PA is considered the key swing state in this year’s Presidential election, and inventory may become quite competitive in the months leading up to the election.
