OOH to OOH —Virgin Media Calls ‘Bullshit’
Broadband wars take to OOH in the UK as Virgin Media responds to competitive telecom provider BT, when a poster in Bristol takes their message to a confrontational level as only billboards, stationary or mobile, can do.
BT is trolling for Virgin Media’s 300,000 customers in Bristol. BT billboards are appealing to local residents to opt for its services. The billboards lead message — ‘Bristol. Don’t settle for Virgin’
Virgin Media responded with mobile billboards trucking the message, ‘bullshit’, positioning in front of BT’s posters. The copy read, ‘B*****T Our fastest average speed in Bristol is 516Mbps. That’s loads faster than BT. Enough said.’
Al Mackie, chief creative officer, Rapp UK added: “Virgin Media, as all the great Virgin brands, is about disrupting the market and making it better for consumers. While they have the fastest widely-available broadband in the UK they haven’t lost that challenger belief and will stand up to the dubious tactics of the other broadband providers.”
