Broadway Collides with Madison Avenue – Bringing The Book of Mormon to the DPAA Global Video Everywhere Summit

DPAA, the global trade marketing association driving the growth and digitization of out-of-home (OOH) advertising, continues its tradition of bringing showstopping live entertainment to its Global Video Everywhere Summit. The 14th Annual Global Video Everywhere Summit will feature a live performance from the cast of The Book of Mormon. The Book of Mormon is a nine-time Tony Award-winning show celebrating its 15th anniversary on Broadway. From the creators of “South Park” and EGOT winner Robert Lopez, this marks their first performance at the Summit.

This brings an unexpected and distinctly New York moment during the day and reinforces the natural and symbiotic link between OOH and Broadway. That idea will take center stage October 13, when nearly 1,000 leaders across brands, agencies, media and technology gather at Pier 60 in New York City, under this year’s theme, “Real Connections.”

“The only way to make Real Connections and build a real community is to lean into the shared, human experiences that get us away from our desks and wanting to get together in real life,” said DPAA President & CEO Barry Frey. “Adding live Broadway performances to our Summit a few years ago has led to such memorable moments – moments that attendees look forward to and ask about year-round. There’s something special about seeing hundreds of industry executives come together to sing Neil Diamond’s ‘Sweet Caroline,’ or to watch me attempt to dance to a Temptations song. It breaks up the day and adds some fun in between all of the great CMOs, newsmakers and agency leaders that we are proud to bring on stage.”

The Book of Mormon performance joins the previously-announced Summit lineup that includes Anthony Scaramucci, former White House Communications Director, Founder & Managing Partner, SkyBridge, and author of All the Wrong Moves (Sept. 22, Macmillan); top agency leaders (MediahubStagwell); and CMOs from across brand categories – from retail (American Eagle Outfitters) and sports (Major League Soccer) to consumer electronics (Hisense), travel (Expedia) and more. The Questions Marketers Are Coming to Answer

Beyond hearing from the people shaping the industry, the Summit is designed to give attendees perspectives, relationships, and ideas they can bring back to their businesses. Questions expected to be part of the conversations among Summit participants on and off stage include:

  • Where does DOOH fit as CMOs rethink the physical world within an increasingly digital customer journey?
  • What happens as DOOH, retail media, and commerce increasingly converge?
  • How, will, and should AI and programmatic technology change the way media is planned, bought, measured, and created?
  • How are advances in measurement better connecting DOOH investment to real business outcomes?
  • How can brands use sports, entertainment, and IRL experiences to create attention people welcome?

“I’ve been doing this long enough to know that the best part of any Summit isn’t necessarily on the agenda. It’s the person you meet, the conversation you weren’t expecting, and what happens next,” added Frey. “We have better technology, data, and tools than ever before, but this business still moves forward because smart people get in a room, trust each other and exchange ideas. That’s what Real Connections is about.”
