Veuve Clicquot (verve’ klee-coh’) is a variety of champagne produced by Veuve Clicquot-Ponsardin, a champagne house founded in 1772 in Reims, a city in the Champagne-Ardenne region of northeastern France. Madame Clicquot was a trailblazing businesswoman, who took over the company when her husband died and became the person who basically birthed the champagne industry.
