AIDS Healthcare Foundation Reminds Seniors that they can still get STDs
Out-of-Home advertising has repeatedly proven to be a trusted and impactful medium for advertisers, even when discussing sensitive topics. The AIDS Healthcare Foundation (AHF) has partnered with billups for over a decade to help bring their message to the masses. Their public health mission to raise awareness and encourage testing around sexually transmitted diseases (STDs), often in a lighthearted and relatable way, is a noble undertaking. Their latest campaign, “STDs are Timeless,” specifically targets senior citizens in the United States, which is a demographic that has been experiencing a worrying rise in STD cases in recent years, according to the Centers for Disease Control.

This campaign featured in major cities across the country, with various older couples kissing against an idyllic beach backdrop. This offered a disarming and playful way to raise awareness on the topic of STD testing for seniors. Dr. Michael Dube, National Medical Director, AHF Public Health Division, had this to say about their objectives for these advertisements: “Our campaign is a reminder that STDs can occur at any age, so we encourage anyone having sex to use condoms, practice safer sex, and get tested regularly regardless of symptoms.”
