Global, the Media & Entertainment Group, in partnership with BT, has begun a nationwide rollout of brand-new digital Street Hub units – an enhanced, premium design to revitalize high streets, improve public connectivity, and supercharge advertising across the UK.
Building on the success of units launched in 2017, the new Street Hubs combine cutting-edge technology with high-impact advertising to support communities, local businesses, and advertisers alike. The compact, elegant units feature fully motion-capable, high-quality screens, designed to display national and local campaigns as well as community and emergency awareness messaging.
The installation of new units is part of BT and Global’s long-term partnership – a combined investment in UK high streets that supports local economies and offers advertisers dynamic new ways to reach audiences in the heart of communities. As part of the partnership, Global has committed to installing up to 2,000 new units over the next decade, delivering increased reach for advertisers and meaningful change for communities.
Chris Forrester, Managing Director, Commercial Outdoor at Global, said: “Our next-generation, sustainable Street Hubs set a new standard for roadside digital outdoor advertising and mark a bold leap forward for the industry, connecting brands and communities up and down the country in more impactful ways. They offer standout visibility thanks to larger, brighter, high-quality screens that deliver a lasting impression. Our growing Street Hub network unlocks new opportunities for national and local advertisers, expanding reach throughout cities and towns across the UK.”
Engineered with people in mind, the new street hubs feature free ultrafast public Wi-Fi, a dedicated 999 emergency call button, and rapid device charging. They can be fitted with mobile connectivity-boosting cells. Responsibly designed, the units are engineered with recycled and recyclable materials. In addition, air quality, sound, and light sensors can be installed to provide councils with access to valuable, real-time environmental data to support healthier communities.
Thea Sztejka, Managing Director at BT Wholesale, said: “Digital connectivity is now a must-have for communities and high streets across the UK, and our new Street Hub units allow us to deliver that where it is needed most. The hubs are already providing benefits to many of our towns and cities, and these upgraded units will allow us to bring future-proofed technology to even more locations for years to come.
